JAGUAR INTRODUCTION:

With one of the world's most recognizable car hood ornaments, Jaguar has built itself a reputation as a premier luxury carmaker. Jaguar was formed in England in 1922, when it began producing motorcycle sidecars. The actual "Jaguar" name came along in the 1930's, which seemed an ideal choice to describe its cars: They symbolize not only feline-like grace and elegance, but also remarkable power and agility.

JAGUAR XKR COUPE:

Based on the XK8 sports car, which made its debut in 1996 as the successor to the XJS, the model called the XKR was tailored to be even sportier. While the normal XK8 has a 4.0-liter V8 DOHC engine, this XKR carries an even more powerful powerplant. Housed in its long nose is a V8 DOHC with dual supercharges that generates maximum power of 375 hp @ 6,150 rpm and maximum torque of 387 N-m @ 3,600 rpm. The drive is quiet and fast. The designers obviously had none of the misconceptions that sports cars should be "rough" rides.

JAGUAR XJ220 ROAD CAR:

This car made its first appearance at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show. While it may at first look like a prototype, this is a respectable production model.

Since Jaguar Sports was in charge of its development, it was given the name XJ220, with 220 of these road-going racers being sold in the four years starting from 1992. The midship-mounted 3.5-liter V6 DOHC powerplant is fundamentally identical to that of the XJR11 appearing on the racing scene at IMSA and elsewhere. This twin-turbo engine was naturally detuned for road use, but it still generates the absurd performance of a maximum power of 524 hp @ 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 65.4 kg-m @ 4,500 rpm. The chassis is made of carbon/Kelvar fiber and aluminum honeycomb covered with beautiful all-aluminum body panels. Connoly leather is used on the seats and console, which gives it a luxury feel befitting a Jaguar supercar.
