Acura:
Honda started the Acura line in the United States in 1986. The nameplate was started to distinguish their
luxury models from the traditional Honda brand, much like Toyota's Lexus brand. Almost 15 years after its inception, Acura is still
showing extraordinary results and is now an acknowledged leader in the luxury-performance import field.
ACURA INTEGRA TYPE-R:
Positioned at the lower end of the Acura line is the Integra series. This Integra is basically the same
as the Japanese Integra, differing only in the front-end design. The main difference is the distinctive front end with four
round headlights adopted in May 1993. This front end was not popular in Japan, but it continues to be the standard not in
the US, but in Europe also.
As expected, the high-end sports model of the Acura Integra line is the Type-R. This model is the same
as the Type R model added to the lineup as a result of an August 1995 minor change to the 4th generation Integra series in Japan.
In order to sweep away the shortcomings of the normal Integra body, special new parts were developed for the
Type R alone. The body was reinforced on an extremely fine level to achieve high rigidity. Yet is still manages to come in 40 kg's
lighter than the SiR. It has also been given a suspension set specially to maximize its potential.
On the exterior, it is equipped with a large spoiler and special lightweight wheels. In the interior, you will
find a steering wheel made by MOMO, Recaro full bucket seats, and a titanium shift knob.
But where this Type R really shines is the powerplant housed in its nose. Based on the normal 1.8 liter NA
inline 4-cylinder DOHC model B18C engine of which generates 180 hp. That special engine is further fine-tuned with patient hand
assembly, which limits production to 25 units per month, before it can be christened a B18C Spec R. It specs give an impressive
200 hp @ 8000 rpm. However, because of the octane value of American gasoline, the US Acura Integra Type R is kept to a maximum
power of 195 hp @ 8000 rpm.
ACURA CL 3.2 TYPE S:
Within the Acura line is the CL model, positioned as a luxury personal coupe. In America, to compete
against the rival BMW 3-series and the Mercedes-Benz CLK, the CL is equipped with a 3.2L V6 powerplant based on that of the NSX.
The main difference with NSX unit is its SOHC head, and in the Type S configuration, by adopting a high compression ratio, it
generates 260 hp. Mated to this engine is an electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission in sports mode.
A 4-wheel double wishbone suspension is adopted and its safety equipment includes ABS and traction
control along with a vehicle stability assist system called VSA. Although positioned as a luxury personal coupe, both its
performance and handling emphasize its sports character, a distinct mark of the Acura brand.
ACURA NSX:
The most exciting model in Acura's lineup can be none other than the NSX. Where the NSX is the
flagship sports car of the Honda brand in Japan, it takes the same position in the Acura's brand in America.
Putting aside production costs and the number of units sold, this machine was developed with the goal
of being the ultimate pure sports car, so extremely close attention has been paid to every detail from end to end, giving it a
completely different character from other sports cars.
First, the chassis is given an aluminum full monocoque structure unseen in other Japanese cars. Next,
aluminum elements are used abundantly in the body and undercarriage, achieving a light but heavy rigid and high-quality body.
The mid-mounted powerplant in this body is a 3.0 liter V6 DOHC engine with F1 racing technology incorporated
into various components, naturally including Honda's unique Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control system (VTEC).
Despite performance and styling rivaling that of Ferrari and Porsche, it is offered at a much more reasonable price, making it
a relatively popular model.

ACURA'S GT3 LINEUP:
The Integra Type-R is one of the best "intermediate cars" in the game due to its low base price and
extremely well balanced performance. For a modest amount of credits, you'll have a really well built car that should win
just about every race you enter. And don't forget about the dynamic mid-engined NSX, either.
