Suzuki:
Suzuki is well known for its wide range of vehicles and engines, supplying everything from world-class
motorcycles to fishing boats. In Japan, Suzuki built its reputation on compact 4X4 units and the subcompact Alto - a sport
version of which is featured in GT3.
SUZUKI ALTO WORKS SPORTS LIMITED:
During the 1980's, the Suzuki Alto was the best-selling subcompact car in Japan - a model that spawned a truly
incredible number of variations. In this Alto series, the model given the sub-name Works was given a sporty taste.
A full model change in September 1988 saw the Alto evolve into its third generation and the works was given a
complete makeover.
The powerplant used in the Alto Works is the inline 3-cylinder DOHC F6A. Two engine options are available.
The engine used in the top model called the RS/R generates a maximum power of 64 hp @ 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.7 kg-m @
4000 rpm. In the Turbo i.e., the maximum power is 61 hp @ 6000 rpm and the maximum torque is 9.2 kg-m @ 3500 rpm. The available
transmissions include a 5-speed manual only for the RS/R and two 3-speed automatics for the Turbo i.e. The RS/R is 4WD while the
Turbo i.e. is 2WD.
The suspension is a combination of front struts and a rear isolated trailing link (ITL) suspension. The
brakes are a combination of front disk brakes and read leading-trailing brakes.
The RS/R in particular has an extremely lightweight of 690 kg and the combination of a high-powered
engine + 4WD gives you a model that achieves an astonishing level of performance.
Thereafter, the Alto underwent a full model change in 1994 when a fourth generation appeared. With emphasis
on boosting torque in the low-rev region, it achieved a maximum torque value of 10.5 kg-m @ 3500 rpm, the best in its class.
