BMW:
The German carmaker BMW has always been synonymous with the world
"speed" - ever since its early start in the mid-1910's when the company began setting
speed world records with its airplane engines. Today, BMW is most recognized for its
achievements as a carmaker - touting one of the most respected luxury car (and motorcycle)
brand names in the world.
BMW 328Ci:
The BMW 3-series underwent a full model change in 1998,
passing the baton to a new type called the E46, so while there was only a sedan model
at the time of its debut, a two-door coupe was added for 1999. Since then, the "Ci"
designation indicating a coupe has been added to the name of the model.
The engine offerings are the same as for the sedan, namely a
2.0-liter, 2.5-liter and 2.8-liter straight-6 DOHC. The 2.0-liter 320Ci gives power figures
of 150 ps/19.4 kg-m, the 2.5-liter 323Ci puts out 170ps/25.0 kg-m while the 2.8-liter
engine-equipped 328Ci generates 193ps/28.5 kg-m. Any of these powerplants may be mated
to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, all of which are naturally
rear-wheel drive. The chassis adopts front struts and a rear central arm suspension
inherited from its predecessors and perfected.
If the mechanical aspects are unchanged from the sedan, then why
was the appearance of the coupe delayed? The secret lies in the exterior/interior. This
2-door coupe may appear at a glance to share components with the sedan, but in fact, about
the only shared parts are the emblems, side marker lights and doorknobs, so all other
components were newly designed from the ground up. Looking carefully, the shape of the
lights in the front end and the shape of the turn signals are also different, while the
body panels are completely different. The entire rear consists of parts made especially for
this car. Looking at it this way, the coupe is very special.

BMW'S GT3 LINEUP:
BMW has always been a serious competitor in the high performance sports
car market. In GT3, the base price on the 328ci is relatively high for beginners and even
intermediate racers. The FR layout is comfortable, and responsive. The combination of styling
and performance makes the 328ci one of those cars that have to add to your garage at one point
or another.
