Ever since the company was started in 1947, its founder Trevor Wilkinson
has had a passion for the competition world, even to the point of entering three TVR Granturas
in the 1962 Le Mans. With that said, the workers at U.K.-based TVR should probably be considered
more artists than car manufacturers. All its models are produced in very limited numbers, and
attention to detail - is what TVR prides itself on.
TVR GRIFFITH 500:
With TVR focusing on large-displacement sports cars in recent years, the
Griffith is the top model in this TVR lineup, an open 2-seater announced in 1991.
Most notable about this sports car produced by this outstanding British
sports maker is the racing car style body construction consisting of tubular steel space frame
chassis with a simple structure covered by an FRP body. The engine mounted in the front of such
a body is a V8 having a 4.0 liter/5.0 liter displacement, with 4.0 liter generating 275 hp and
the 5.0 liter generating 340 hp. All together, the vehicle weight is 2,332. This weight is so
low to be equivalent to that of a 1.6-liter-class sports car. This high the power-to-weight
ratio gives the car awesome dynamic performance.
